Many movies today (especially Marvel films) have post-credits scenes that often set up events for the sequel. So, is there a post-credits scene in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse?

The answer is no, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse does not have any post-credits scenes. But after the mid-credits, a title card appears which indicates “Miles Morales will return in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.”

Whenever it’s a Marvel film, viewers already know that they should wait until the end. But there is no post-credits scene in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, so you do not have to stay until the end.

After the mid-credits, the audience is informed that Miles Morales will return in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. There’s no scene after that, just the credits that keep rolling.

So, you don’t need to wait for the credits to end. The movie, after all, has a cliffhanger ending, so it’s probably the intention of the filmmakers to keep it that way by not giving us a post-credits scene that would give us a glimpse of the third film.

With no post-credits scene in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, viewers are kept in the dark. But this also keeps things exciting for the third film in the franchise.

The third film, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, is scheduled to be released in theaters on March 29, 2024.

In a recent interview with IGN, Christopher Miller, co-writer and producer of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, talked about the decision to split the film into two parts:

“For a long time, we were trying to jam two movies into one, and then we realized the movie was telling us this was a whole complete arc of a story and this really was the second part of the trilogy, and so it just made a lot more sense then. Because it has a beginning and middle and end for all the characters, they all grow and they all have an arc. It felt like this is where the movie was telling us this is its own thing.”

In addition to a third film, a female-led spin-off film focusing on Gwen Stacy/Spider-Gwen, Cindy Moon/Silk, and Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman is in development.

Sony confirmed that Across the Spider-Verse would serve as a “launching pad” for the Spider-Women spin-off. Jessica Drew is introduced in the second film, and we see more about her relationship with Gwen.

Additionally, in an interview with Collider, co-writer and producer Phil Lord said that there will be a lot of new characters in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

“Believe it or not. You thought that you've seen every Spider-Person that you could imagine, but not every Spider-Person we can imagine,” Lord said.

So, with the cliffhanger ending and the surprises teased for the third film, we know that there’s a lot in store for us in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.
