Fans who have been hoping for more of the characters in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse are in for a treat. The Spider-Women spinoff film has been confirmed, and it's teaming Spider-Gwen up with two awesome characters.
Into The Spider-Verse producer Amy Pascal recently spoke to Vanity Fair about the future of the multiverse. Not surprisingly, Pascal confirmed that Spider-Gwen will headline the Spider-Women spinoff. In addition to that, she will be joined by Cindy Moon aka Silk and Jessica Drew aka Spider-Woman. The script for the new Spider-Verse movie will be penned by Bek Smith.
This isn't the only project that will feature Spider-Gwen. It was also revealed that the Into The Spider-Verse sequel will focus on her budding relationship with Miles Morales.
Sony isn't all about animation when it comes to the Spider-Women. Pascal also confirmed that the live-action Silk movie is already in early development so we can look forward to seeing Cindy Moon go on her own adventures soon. In the meantime, we can simply enjoy Into The Spider-Verse.
The synopsis for Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse reads as follows:
"Bitten by a radioactive spider in the subway, Brooklyn teenager Miles Morales suddenly develops mysterious powers that transform him into the one and only Spider-Man. When he meets Peter Parker, he soon realizes that there are many others who share his special, high-flying talents. Miles must now use his newfound skills to battle the evil Kingpin, a hulking madman who can open portals to other universes and pull different versions of Spider-Man into our world."
Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is currently in theaters worldwide.
