Romance anime fans have another show to look forward to in the Spring 2023 season as the acclaimed manga series Skip and Loafer is getting an anime adaptation, and it just got a new trailer earlier today.
The new trailer for the anime was shared via the DMM Pictures YouTube channel as well as on the show’s official Twitter account.
Aside from giving fans a taste of what to expect, the trailer also highlighted the show’s main cast.
Skip and Loafer: A Comfy Anime Coming in Spring 23
Fans of chill school romance anime should be excited for Skip and Loafer. After all, it’s based on the popular manga of the same name by Misaki Takamatsu.
While it debuted in 2018 in Monthly Afternoon magazine, the series gained renown two years later as it ranked in various year-end lists and got nominated for awards such as the 2020 Kodansha Manga Award and the 13th Manga Taisho.
The series’ story follows Mitsumi Iwakura, a small-town girl who moves to a Tokyo high school.
Despite being studious, she finds the city overwhelming. Thankfully, she meets the laid-back Sousuke Shima, a handsome classmate of hers.
For the manga’s anime adaptation, studio P.A. Works was chosen to handle animation duties.
The studio’s other works include hit shows from last year like Ya Boy Kongming! and Akiba Maid War.

Skip and Loafer Anime Cast, Release Date
Handling the series’ direction is Kotomi Deai of Natsume’s Book of Friends fame.
Aside from the notable director, the series also features a voice cast that’s composed of several well-known voice actors, including:
- Tomoyo Kurosawa (Ulti in One Piece) as Mitsumi Iwakura
- Akinori Egoshi (Cona in Overlord III) as Sоusuke Shima
- Yuka Terasaki (Vueko in Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun) as Mika Egashira
- Maaya Uchida (Angel Devil in Chainsaw Man) as Yuzuki Murashige
- Megumi Han (Gon Freecss in Hunter x Hunter) as Makoto Kurume

While Spring 2023 is a stacked season, with shows such as Demon Slayer and Dr. Stone: New World expected to dominate streaming numbers, those on the lookout for a more chill show might want to watch out for Skip and Loafer.
This upcoming romance anime will premiere in Japan this April.
Meanwhile, Crunchyroll is confirmed to stream the series as soon as each episode airs in Japan.
