Ya Boy Kongming, also known as Paripi Koumei in Japan, is a reverse isekai and comedy anime with a few historical elements tossed in for good measure. It's also an anime with a story that revolves around the theme of music.

It stars the late Chinese general Kongming, who begs the Gods for a life free of war on his deathbed. He achieved his wish when he was reincarnated in modern-day Shibuya on Halloween night. When he arrives, he meets Eiko Tsukimi, an aspiring professional singer who works at Kobayashi's nightclub.

When Kongming first hears Eiko's singing voice, he is immediately captivated by its healing and soothing effect. As a result, he volunteers to be Eiko's manager while also working as a bartender at the club. With Kongming's reputation as a wise tactician, he uses his previous stratagems in Eiko's performance to propel the latter's career to new heights.

Ya Boy Kongming is a must-see for everyone, even if you aren't a big fan of historical or musical anime genres. I swear, the moment you hear Ya Boy Kongming's opening song, you will be completely hooked and will experience the "last song syndrome!" You'll get stuck in a never-ending loop of not skipping the anime's banger opening song, performed by QUEENDOM. Trust me, you'll have it on repeat all the time!

Aside from the opening and closing songs, Ya Boy Kongming is a genre mash-up that will keep viewers entertained. Even if you are not a fan of the Three Kingdoms, you will find yourself laughing and intrigued by the series' running gags. Also, because of the smooth pacing, genuine transitions, and interesting character dialogue, this is one of those shows that you will fondly remember.

Furthermore, the anime's character designs and detailing are very pleasing to the eyes due to their vibrant colors and palette. P.A. Works did an excellent job of animating Kongming's adventures in the vibrant city of Shibuya.

The main character is perhaps the anime's greatest strength. Kongming is a likable character who will have you wanting more of his speeches and strategies as he navigates Eiko's musical career.

The creator did an excellent job of depicting Kongming's thought process, which is based on a real Chinese general from back in the day. He is the show's life and soul, and he will hook you in seconds. You will never be able to leave Ya Boy Kongming because Kongming's strategies are so powerful. I'm kidding!

I'm sure you could have missed Ya Boy Kongming if you only based it on the anime plot. It's written as if it's not supposed to work, but after Episode 1, it completely blew the audience away. Every part works flawlessly together, and every piece falls into the right place.

While watching the anime from the start may feel strange, the show will draw you in as soon as you finish the first episode. This show will prove to you that even the most ridiculous premise can be entertaining.

The only issue I have with Ya Boy Kongming is the anime's running gags, which are heavily based on the Three Kingdoms. Because most people are unfamiliar with the source material, there is a chance that they will miss the jokes and dismiss them.

In any case, Ya Boy Kongming thoroughly explains everything, particularly Kongming's stratagems. Perhaps this show can be added to the ever-expanding library of EDUtainment anime shows. What exactly are you waiting for? Get on your grooves and board the Ya Boy Kongming hype train!
