Shadow and Bone Star Ben Barnes Teases Awesome Update on Season 2

There is little doubt that people are already looking forward to Shadow and Bone Season 2. But what exactly can we expect when the fantasy series returns on Netflix? Ben Barnes has shared an interesting update on the second season and is hyping up General Kirigan's return.

Ben Barnes is currently promoting Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities where he appears in the episode Pickman's Model. Still, the Stardust actor couldn't help but talk about his next project in a new interview with Collider. Interestingly, Barnes was initially reluctant to share too much about Shadow and Bone Season 2 but he eventually revealed some details about the show's second season.

"It’s definitely amped up. I know everyone always says this about a sequel or a second season, but it’s definitely amped up in scale," Barnes said. "There are six main characters in the first season, and now, there are essentially about 16. And there are these cleverly intertwined plot lines. People’s agendas and the action is obviously amped up, as is the adventure."

He then stated that the Darkling is still up to no good but Barnes is making sure that General Kirigan is still viewed as an actual person.

"I would say, with regard to my character, what I was championing was finding the humanity," he said. "He’s quite emblematic of something dark and evil in the books, after the first one, so my mission was to make sure that he’s a real person, suffering the things he’s suffering and committing the sins that he’s committing."

The last we saw of the Darkling, he was emerging from the Fold and seemingly in control of the Volcra. With that in mind, we're expecting Kirigan to reveal just how powerful he has become.

Shadow and Bone Season 2 has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
