Shadow and Bone Season 2

As expected, Netflix already renewed Shadow and Bone for a second season back in June, but the streaming giant hasn't officially confirmed a release date yet. Season 2 hasn't started filming yet, but production is expected to begin in early 2022, which could take several months; then it will need to go through post-production, and we know that can take a few months to complete.

With this in mind, it's likely that Shadow and Bone Season 2 will arrive sometime in 2023, but hopefully, it will arrive in late 2022.

The good news is that it looks like filming already started. Executive producer Josh Barry shared a post on Instagram about going to Bulgaria, where the show films.

There's a lot of plot developments that would occur in the second season, but one major story element is that General Kirigan doesn't die, and he becomes more powerful. It's likely that Kirigan will still be the primary antagonist in Season 2.

The official description for Siege and Storm, the second book in the Shadow and Bone trilogy reads: "To save her country, Alina will have to choose between her power and the love she thought would always be her shelter. Netflix hasn't officially confirmed Season 2 for Shadow and Bone yet, so no cast members have been confirmed to return but it's likely that Jessie Mei Li and Ben Barnes will return to reprise their roles if the show is renewed. It's likely that the majority of the cast from Season 1 will return, but don't expect actors whose characters have died to return in the second season.

In January 2022, Netflix announced the 3 new cast members joining Shadow and Bone for Season 2.

Patrick Gibson (The OA) will play Nikolai Lanstov, the son of Ravkan king Alexander III with his own private fleet; Lewis Tan (Mortal Kombat) will play Tolya Yul-Bataar, Tamar’s twin brother and another Heartrender.

The Witcher's Jack Wolfe joins Shadow and Bone as Wylan Hendrik — also known as Wylan Van Eck — a member of the Six of Crows who uses his mother’s maiden name while hiding out in the Barrel; and Anna Leong Brophy (Ragdoll, Traces) as Tamar Kir-Bataar, a Heartrender and Aline's close friend.

Shadow and Bone Season 1 is now available to stream on Netflix.
