Queen Elizabeth and Prince Harry have always been close. The Duke of Sussex has always been vocal about his love and admiration for his grandmother, and it seems the feeling is mutual between the two.

So, when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got engaged in 2018, they sat down for an interview where the latter detailed her first meeting with Queen Elizabeth. Based on Markle’s accounts, she had a blast meeting Her Majesty at the Royal Lodge.

Meghan Markle Revealed That Not Many People Asked If She Was OK

But shortly after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex tied the knot, they became the subjects of ridicule and criticism. In 2019, Markle revealed that not a lot of people asked her how she was doing. However, the queen is not one of those people.

“Look, any woman, especially when they're pregnant, you're really vulnerable, and so that was made really challenging. And then when you have a newborn, you know? Especially as a woman, it's really — it's a lot. Also, thank you for asking, because not many people have asked if I'm OK. But it's a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes,” she told Tom Brady (via Business Insider).

Queen Elizabeth Regularly Checked On Prince Harry And Meghan Markle

During a discussion on the Royal Round Up podcast, royal correspondent Richard Palmer revealed that the queen visited Prince Harry and Markle on multiple occasions while they were still residing at Windsor Castle.

“I do know that when the Sussex’s were living at Windsor, the Queen was popping in to see them quite regularly. She was worried about how unhappy and unsettled they were. So, I was told at one point that she was going around to see them make sure they were okay,” he said (via Express).

Unfortunately, the queen could no longer pop up and visit Prince Harry and Markle anytime she pleases. After all, the Sussexes currently reside in the United States.

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Have Nothing But Wonderful Things To Say About Queen Elizabeth

But during their tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey last year, Markle proved that she has nothing but wonderful memories with the monarch.

“The queen, for example, has always been wonderful to me. I mean, we had one of our first joint engagements together. She asked me to join her, and I went on the train. And we had breakfast together that morning and she gave me a beautiful gift and I just really loved being in her company, and I know we were in the car—Yeah, she gave me some beautiful pearl earrings and a matching necklace—and we were in the car going between engagements. And she has a blanket that sits across her, her knees, for warmth and it was chilly and she was like, Meghan, come on, and put it over my knees as well,” she gushed (via Elle).

Prince Harry also revealed that he was in constant communication with the queen ever since he quit his royal duties.

“I've spoken more to my grandmother in the last year than I have [in] many, many years. My grandmother and I have a really good relationship and understanding, and I have deep respect for her,” he said.
