Prince Harry may have just smashed young royal fans’ dreams of living and growing up inside a palace. As a member of the royal family, the Duke of Sussex grew up inside Kensington Palace, which meant that he had access to rooms and places that the public might not have seen ever.
Prince Harry Details What It Was Really Like Growing Up At Kensington Palace
But while promoting his memoir Spare, Prince Harry revealed that growing up in the palace wasn’t as sophisticated as what may have been depicted in the movies. In fact, the dad of three said that it was weird, and since he was so used to being in that kind of environment, he thought that it was normal.
During his conversation with Dr. Gabor Mate, the Duke of Sussex was asked if Kensington Palace had some secret doorways and secret cupboards that the public doesn’t know about.
“As a royal child, did you get to roam the castles freely, and did you find any trap doors?” Mate asked Prince Harry (via New Idea).
“That's the assumption, that there were trap doors all over castles. As kids, it was an adventure, running around that kind of a place. What an experience. Not so many trap doors, and lots of fun things to investigate, but I guess, it's weird. When you're brought up as a child in that environment, you think that is normal, but it's not. It's anything but normal. So no, some secret doorways and some secret cupboards. [But] none so sophisticated as you pull a book and then all of [a] sudden a thing opens. I probably would’ve gotten stuck in there,” Prince Harry said.

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Asked To Vacate Frogmore Cottage By June
But while Meghan Markle’s husband has a ton of fun memories to look back on from living in Kensington Palace, it seems that the same cannot be said about his time at Frogmore Cottage. Even though he had an entirely different experience residing there, this had to be cut short after King Charles asked for him and his entire family to vacate the property by June.
A spokesperson for the Sussexes said that Prince Harry and Markle had been asked to vacate Frogmore Cottage. And they were reportedly blindsided by the request.
King Charles Officially Invited Prince Harry And Meghan Markle To His Coronation?
But shortly after the reports made headlines, it was also confirmed that King Charles invited Prince Harry and Markle to attend his coronation on May 6.
However, the couple has yet to confirm their attendance at the ceremony.
