Paul Burrell worked as a royal butler for Prince Charles and Princess Diana for several years. but it’s common knowledge that he developed a closer bond with the Princess of Wales compared to the Prince of Wales.

Following Princess Diana’s death, Burrell made some shocking allegations about Prince Charles. And it has now been revealed that the future king reacted to it via a letter that he wrote to Princess Alexandra’s maid, Marjorie Dawson.

Prince Charles Didn’t Trust Paul Burrell, Other Staffers That Accepted Bribes

According to Express, Prince Charles lashed out at Burrell and expressed his anger towards current and former palace staffers that accept bribes and fabricate stories about him.

“I find it utterly incredible, as I have done nothing but show people like Paul Burrell every consideration over the years. Unfortunately, we are now to be treated as mere pawns in a terrifying and ongoing media circulation war where the actual facts are totally disregarded and vast sums are offered as bribes to former and current staff to exercise their pathetic jealousies and vendettas in public. One member of staff has been offered a total of £5 million by the newspapers,” he wrote.

Prince Charles’ letter to Dawson will be featured in an auction on July 21. And it is expected to generate thousands.

Paul Burrell Made Some Shocking Allegations About Prince Charles

As of writing, Burrell has not commented on Prince Charles’ letter, but he has said a thing or two about his former boss. For instance, he once said that the portrayal of Josh O’Connor as Prince Charles in The Crown was spot-on.

“Josh O'Connor plays Prince Charles as a rather uncaring, cold person. And I'm afraid that's what I saw behind closed doors. I would have put in another scene with Charles telling Diana — after she comes downstairs wearing a beautiful black and white dress just to please him — 'You look like you belong to the mafia,’” he said (via Café Mom).

Paul Burrell Is More Protective Of Princess Diana Than Prince Charles

During his appearance in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, Burrell claimed that Princess Diana wrote him a letter and told him that he was fearful for her life.

“Her words were, 'These next few months are the most difficult months of my life. I fear my husband is going to kill me. In an automobile accident with head injuries. In order that he can remarry,’” Burrell alleged.

However, Princess Diana’s friend, Lucia Flecha de Lima, debunked the claims by saying that Burrell could’ve just copied the Princess of Wales’ handwriting and pretended that she had written him a letter.

“Paul Burrell was perfectly capable of imitating Princess Diana's handwriting. I don't believe she was fearing for her life, especially from Prince Charles, the future king of your country,” De Lima said.

Burrell was also the one who claimed that Prince Charles had a rude reaction after seeing Prince Harry for the first time.

“She told me on the night that Harry was born, Charles came to visit. He wasn't at the birth. Harry is lying in the cot, and he said, 'Red hair, I suppose that's a Spencer gene.’ She said, 'Are you pleased, Charles?' He said, 'I'm delighted. I now have an heir and a spare,’” Burrell said.

According to Burrell, Princess Diana also had a hard time falling asleep, so she was given sleeping pills, as well as birth control. However, they were not under her name but the other female staffers who worked for her.
