Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s royal wedding was filled with controversies even before the former walked down the aisle at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
The Duchess of Sussex didn’t invite her family to her big day, and only her mom, Doria Ragland, was there. There were also some issues involving her dad, Thomas Markle Sr., who posed for fake photos ahead of the wedding.
Thomas also suffered a heart attack just days before Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s nuptials. So, he was unable to walk his daughter now the aisle. Previous reports revealed that Prince Harry asked Prince Charles if he could walk Markle down the aisle, and the future king said yes.
Meghan Markle Asked Prince Charles To Meet Her Halfway Down The Aisle On Her Wedding Day
However, royal expert Neil Sean just shared some new details regarding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s royal wedding. He said that Markle also made a request to her father-in-law to meet her halfway down the aisle. According to the royal expert, the request raised eyebrows between Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles.
“We now all know, thanks to the world stage, Prince Charles was asked by his younger son if he wouldn't mind escorting his wife-to-be Meghan Markle down the famous aisle at St George's Chapel in Windsor. He [Charles] was delighted, couldn't believe it, and [was] said [to be] absolutely honored and thrilled,” Sean said (via Express).

Meghan Markle Wanted All Eyes To Be On Her On Her Wedding Day
During his meeting with Prince Charles, Markle reportedly made her feelings known. And this was reportedly the moment that everyone knew that she was going to be difficult to work with.
Sean further explained that some people were convinced that Markle wanted all eyes to be on her for a few seconds before Prince Charles stepped in.
“The world's cameras to let us see that she was a strong independent woman and of course, doing things her own way,” Sean seemingly defended the Duchess of Sussex.
However, the royal expert also claimed that Prince Charles told Prince Harry about his wife’s request and the Duke of Sussex simply said that that’s how Markle is.
“According to a good source, and as ever allegedly, it appears that when Prince Charles bought this up with his youngest son, he [Harry] said 'oh well, that Meghan.’ But as you can see now, and as Prince Charles is looking back over that particular period, he should have known exactly what was around the corner,” Sean said.
On her wedding day, Markle and Prince Charles were all smiles as they walked down the aisle of the chapel. The future king was also in good spirits when he escorted Ragland outside of the wedding venue.
Prince Charles Adored Meghan Markle And Gave Her A Unique Nickname
Shortly after the wedding, Prince Charles and Markle maintained a relatively close relationship with each other. In fact, there are reports that the dad of two adored his daughter-in-law and even called her Tungsten, which is a rare metal that reflects Markle’s resilient nature.
“Meghan Markle hasn't had an easy time of it since joining the royal family. Not only has the press hounded her relentlessly, but she has also said that she felt less than at home in the royal family. The royal family may not have approved of Meghan and Harry stepping down as senior royals, despite them doing so to escape an environment that was clearly not good for their mental health. However, it seems that Prince Charles had a lot of respect for Meghan's resilient nature. Over time, reports revealed that Prince Charles and Markle’s relationship deteriorated. In fact, there are also allegations that Prince Harry and Markle were referring to Prince Charles when they claimed that someone had questions about their son’s skin color.
However, this claim has never been proven to be accurate because the Duke and Duchess of Sussex didn’t unveil the name of the royal that they were talking about.
