The world has changed and Kaiju now roam the land. The full trailer for Netflix's animated series Pacific Rim: The Black reveals new iconic heroes, more Jaegers, and even deadlier Kaiju.
The trailer for Pacific Rim: The Black opens with a shot of a deserted city followed by the two young siblings looking out at the landscape. The boy claims that he never thought they would return to the place after what happened in the past.
So what happened here? A brief flashback shows a gigantic Kaiju rampaging through the city while a younger version of the two siblings hides together. However, they eventually manage to escape.
Now, the brother and sister are Jaeger pilots who have decided to return to the city in search of their parents. However, there is so much more to discover here as they encounter a strange child and other people who are just trying to survive while Kaiju roam the land.
Netflix had announced Pacific Rim: The Black back in 2018 and confirmed it would be an anime series. Interestingly, the show has not yet premiered but it has already been renewed for a second season.
The synopsis for Pacific Rim: The Black reads as follows:
"There was a time when Kaiju rose from the Pacific Rim only to encounter gigantic robots, Jaegers, built to fight them back. That time has passed. Now, Australia has been overrun by Kaiju, forcing the evacuation of an entire continent. Left behind, teenage siblings Taylor and Hayley embark on a desperate search for their missing parents, teaching themselves to pilot a battered, long-abandoned Jaeger to help in their quest and give them even the slightest hope of surviving."
Pacific Rim: The Black was created by Greg Johnson and Craig Kyle based on the 2013 film by Guillermo del Toro. The new series will premiere on Netflix on March 4.
