Netflix's Pacific Rim Anime Gets Release Window and Two Seasons

Pacific Rim is one of those film series' that fans have mixed opinions on, though that might have to do with the sequel many find disappointing. While the first film was flawed, it was still a fun experience for many with a good story and likable characters. Fans are hoping that the anime will do the same, forgetting the flaws from Uprising and building on what made the first film beloved in the first place.

During Project Anime, Legendary Pictures announced that Netflix's Pacific Rim anime will be coming to the streaming service next year. As if that wasn't enough to get excited about, IGN has confirmed that the series will last for two seasons. It's not yet clear if there will be more and no amount of episodes have been revealed, as of this writing.

Anime studio Polygon Pictures will be working on the anime. They worked on Netflix's acclaimed Godzilla anime, so fans are in for a good time. Those anime managed to blend hand-drawn animation with CGI so we can expect something similar for this.

The series will tell the story of two siblings who pilot an abandoned Jaeger mech in an attempt to find their missing parents. Craig Kyle and Greg Johnson, who has worked on Thor: Ragnarok and X-Men: Evolution respectively, are the anime's showrunners.

Netflix's Pacific Rim anime will be coming out in 2020.
