Godzilla: King of Monsters is set to come out in a few months, and marketing has been going on a slow and steady pace. We just got a new spot titled Time Has Come, and what's interesting is, it may be featuring Kaiju different from Godzilla, Ghidorah, Rodan, and Mothra.
We kind of get confirmation that it's Rodan that comes out of a volcano, but we have no idea which monsters were popping out of the desert as well as that mountain. There's actually a very wealthy bank of monsters in the classic kaiju vault, and Rodan and Ghidorah are actually just the tips of the iceberg.
With Legendary's Monster-verse still ongoing, it's very likely that we'll get to see other creatures make an appearance in Godzilla vs. Kong in 2020. My guess is that the scene where the other Kaiju emerge would be taking place near the end of the film where all the creatures will start to emerge. Now it kind of seems that this franchise is building up to Pacific Rim. Do you think they'll ever try to pull off a gigantic Mecha-Godzilla?
Personally, I want to see Gamera make an appearance. With him being a giant turtle, I have a feeling that it's actually him that comes out of that mountain. Do you think they'll let him travel by spinning? I mean, they did give Godzilla his signature atomic breath.
Following the global success of "Godzilla" and "Kong: Skull Island" comes the next chapter in Warner Bros. Pictures' and Legendary Pictures' cinematic MonsterVerse, an epic action-adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history. The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity's very existence hanging in the balance.
Godzilla: King of Monsters comes out May 31.
