The first season of Oshi no Ko is an emotional roller coaster. It had character deaths, plans of revenge, deception, discrimination, and more. There's much excitement about Oshi no Ko Season 2, and now it finally has a release date window!

Spoiler Warning: This article includes Oshi no Ko manga spoilers.

Oshi no Ko Shows the Dark Reality Behind the Camera

There aren't many idol anime series that explore the realities behind the spotlight.

Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari's Oshi no Ko is a one-of-a-kind anime that perfectly captures what goes on behind the glitz and glamour of the entertainment world.

Idols in Japan must overcome numerous obstacles before they can stand and perform on stage.

The same is true for actors who wish to remain relevant in a competitive and fast-paced industry.

Just because an idol or an actor is popular, they will be exempt from the toxic environment that is associated with their profession.

Not everyone will be happy with their success, and not everyone will be true to their compliments.

Oshi no Ko’s Ai Hoshino is a one-of-a-kind idol who has a natural gift for performing.

She had the looks, physique, and, most especially, the talent to devour other people who were trying to outperform her on stage or even in front of the camera.

She was loved by her fans, including her twin babies, Aqua and Ruby. But behind her success were people who were actually looking forward to her downfall.

Worse, they were part of the production committee that was tasked with taking care of idols like Ai.

Moreover, Oshi no Ko also left a nasty taste in our mouths after Ai’s death. It showed us how fans are so committed and passionate that they are willing to cross boundaries to threaten and harm their idols.

In a society where idols are revered, they are easy prey for predatory devotees who want them to remain as divine as ever.

Undoubtedly, these idols will be devoured by their admirers the instant they make a mistake in their careers.

This is also true of Akane Kurokawa’s incident with Yuki Sumi in the dating reality show. She was roasted and bullied online due to the bad staging the show built for her.

She was also cornered by the angry mob online, who called her names, sent her death threats, and wanted her gone from the show.

This is why Kana Arima warns Ruby to be cautious with her every move. A single blunder will cost her dearly, and it will never be forgotten.

It will also cost her many potential opportunities that could have advanced her career.

Among all the characters in Oshi no Ko, Aqua is aware of the toxicity of the entertainment industry, and he cleverly plays along with it.

He is aware of the dos and don'ts as well as the implications of his actions. Most significantly, Aqua understands how to play his cards, which makes him a good character in Oshi no Ko.

Overall, Oshi no Ko's dark premise adds to the show's appeal. Many viewers are looking forward to Aqua's vengeance on his father as well as Ruby's idol career.

With all of the negative aspects of their jobs, we can only wonder why actors and idols keep wanting to be in the spotlight.

There's also no info yet on how many episodes the anime will have, or if it will also get an hour-long premiere.

What to Expect From Oshi no Ko Season 2

Oshi no Ko Season 2 will have so much more to offer to the viewers, especially those who want to see Ruby Hoshino’s idol career flourish along with Kana Arima and Mem-cho.

While Aqua had the most screen time in Oshi no Ko Season 1, Ruby will step out and forge her idol career in Season 2.

It will be interesting to see the newest B-Komachi idol group perform on stage and how they will be received by the crowd that knows about the original group.

The 2.5D Stage Play Arc (or the Tokyo Blade Arc) will also include Kana and Akane competing on the same stage.

We'll see how good both of these actresses are and how they differ from one another.

Furthermore, Kana and Akane will vie for Aqua's attention. We know they're both drawn to Aqua, but what happens if the three of them start working together?

As a result, Oshi no Ko Season 2 is very likely to adapt the 2.5D Stage Play Arc all the way to the Private Arc, given the pacing of the anime's first season.
