One of Ai Hoshino's fans stabbed her after discovering her secret; that she had children at the age of 16.

Despite having so many fans, Ai recognized the killer as one of her regular fans who attended the B-Komachi fan meeting.

She even told the fan that she had kept his gift to her. This made the killer anxious, so he decided to flee.

During her last moments, Ai talked about her children and her wish to see them grow up.

She also had the chance to tell her twins how much she loved them, which was something she never brought herself to tell them before.

Ai's fan killed her because he had a dangerous, unhealthy obsession with her and was enraged to find out that she had a family.

In the world of Japanese entertainment, idols' personal lives can be under scrutiny. Agencies might even ban idols from dating.

This is both to ensure their ultimate focus on their job and to cultivate a wish-fulfillment image for fans, portraying an idol as "anyone's" potential boyfriend or girlfriend.

In defiance of this, Ai got pregnant at 16 years old. Because of this, the company director warned her that the fans would not accept her.

However, instead of giving her kids away, she raised them and kept them a secret. When she turned 20, one of her fans found out about her children.

Aqua Hoshino, the older of Ai's twins, speculated that their biological father leaked the information about them.

The fan did not accept the truth and decided to kill Ai for "betraying" her fans.

The fan was clearly obsessed with her as there was no reason to kill Ai.

Sure, she was popular and rich, but killing her wouldn't have done him any good.

Ai also didn't plan to ask for help raising her kids. In fact, her objective was to raise her children on her own.

But the person who leaked the information might have had a deeper purpose.

If the twins' biological father was truly behind all this, it could be because he wanted Ai out of the picture so he could succeed in the entertainment industry.

Later manga chapters reveal that the children's biological father, Hikaru Kamiki, is a serial killer who enjoys murdering women, strengthening the theory that he leaked the information to get Ai killed.

Since the Oshi no Ko manga is still ongoing, it is hard to tell if Aqua succeeds in exacting his revenge or not.

What we know for sure is that he entered the entertainment industry to find out the truth about his mother's killer.

He tries to prevent Ruby from following in their mom's footsteps, but she is determined to become an idol herself.

Fans have several theories regarding Aqua's revenge quest.

Some think Aqua will do everything he can to discover the truth, even if it results in his death.

He has died before (and was reborn), so dying once again might not be an issue. However, some do not think this will happen.

Some believe that Aqua will not die but rather end up killing the person behind Ai's death.

Others hope that he might finally learn to let go of his revenge plans as they fear that his revenge plan will utterly corrupt him.
