We're still waiting for the premiere of the Mortal Kombat reboot but we may already have a hint to its future. Joe Taslim, who plays Sub-Zero in the upcoming film, has revealed that his contract includes four pictures which could mean several sequels.
Taslim is currently promoting Mortal Kombat and the Star Trek Beyond actor confirmed that he has signed on to work on four more movies after the first one. Interestingly, this could mean that Warner Bros. has big plans for the reboot.
"If this one's successful, maybe we do more," Taslim said on the latest episode of the Just for Variety podcast.
We're certainly loving the idea of more Mortal Kombat movies considering that the reboot has teased on an epic sequel. In addition to that, we're excited about seeing more of Taslim's Sub-Zero in the future.
Taslim was the first cast member confirmed for the Mortal Kombat reboot back in 2019 so it makes sense that he would be the first one revealed to be returning for a sequel. It would be amazing to see Sub-Zero back in action soon.
On the other hand, it's important to point out that Warner Bros. has not yet revealed whether they are moving forward with the Mortal Kombat franchise. Hopefully, everything will be revealed by Friday.
Mortal Kombat also stars Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Tadanobu Asano, Mehcad Brooks, Ludi Lin, Chin Han, and Hiroyuki Sanada. The movie is scheduled to premiere in selected theaters and on HBO Max on April 23, 2021.
