Adultswim Hypes Up Mortal Kombat Premiere with Awesome Puppet Trailer

There is little doubt that Mortal Kombat is all about bloody fatalities and brutal fights but how do you promote an action-packed film without carnage? Adultswim has it all figured out with a trailer featuring puppets.

The official Adultswim Twitter account has just posted an ad promoting the Mortal Kombat premiere. Interestingly, the short teaser states that the warriors in the movie have skills "so advanced that they can only be shown on commercial TV as puppets." Check it out below.

That's right, they came up with felt puppet versions of Sonya Blade, Sub-Zero, and Scorpion who all take on the strangely adorable Goro. Each match ends with a "Felt-ality" that would be too graphic if they were shown in live-action.

We're loving this ad and it certainly hypes up the brutality we can expect in Mortal Kombat. Needless to say, we can't wait to see all the live-action fatalities in the film.

If you are hoping to see some of the live-action sequences in the movie, you can enjoy the first seven minutes of Mortal Kombat which takes us back to feudal Japan before Hanzo Hasashi becomes Scorpion. Interestingly, the sequence also features how the kunai became Scorpion's trademark and weapon of choice.

Mortal Kombat is directed by Simon McQuoid and stars Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Tadanobu Asano, Mehcad Brooks, Ludi Lin, Chin Han, Joe Taslim, and Hiroyuki Sanada. The film is scheduled to premiere in the US in selected theaters and on HBO Max on April 23, 2021.
