The film Mortal Kombat will be around Cole Young, an orphan with a mark who has no clue about his lineage and becomes MMA fighter living a quiet life which gets disrupted when Bi-Han/Sub-Zero was sent by Emperor Shang-Tsung to eliminate him as he bears the mark.

He met Jax, a Special Forces Major with the same mark as him, and instructed him to find Sonya Blade. He then finds the sanctuary of Lord Raiden for people with the same mark and there, he trains with Liu Kang, Kung Lao, and Kano, to prepare for the threat posed by the Outworld led by Shang-Tsung.

Which Mortal Kombat Character Are You? Take the quiz!

With an R-Rating of the film, the fight scenes are definitely not sub-par as described by the director himself in a recently released featurette as "sickeningly violent" making it inadvisable for children. This would be the directorial debut of Simon McQuoid and he shared with EpicStream that his knowledge in creating game advertisements proved useful in directing a film based on an iconic game.

A star-studded ensemble of the Kast gives life to the characters with Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Mechad Brooks as Jax, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi/ Scorpion and Joe Taslim as Bi-Han/ Sub-Zero, Sisi Stringer as Mileena, Max Huang as Kung Lao, Matilda Kimber as Emily Young, and Laura Brent as Allison Young.

In this list, we'll break down the top 5 characters, the strongest among them in the upcoming film Mortal Kombat.

Top 5: Liu Kang

Shown in the trailers and featurettes, Liu Kang played by Ludi Lin harnesses fire along with sick martial arts moves. With his skills and training, he makes an easy contender in the Top 5 as one of the strongest characters to ever set foot in the film. When someone says fight fire with fire, Liu Kang got you! His skills prove to be useful when combined in combat and because of this, he enters the fifth spot.

Top 4: Bi-Han/ Sub-Zero

Played by Joe Taslim, Sub-Zero is ruthless and truly cold-hearted. He could wreak havoc with ice and in the trailers and featurettes, he broke the arms of Jax easily by turning it into ice. Being sent by Emperor Shang-Tsung to hunt down Cole Young, only means that Shang-Tsung himself recognizes the strength that Sub-Zero has that he was the one sent to Cole down.

His fighting style proves him to be one of the strongest as well. With Mortal Kombatreleasing the first seven minutes of the film, Bi-Han/ Sub-Zero fights off one of the strongest characters and managed to give Hanzo Hasashi the fight of his life. They surely meet again sometime as, at the end of the video, it shows they have another face-off in a different setting.

He may be one of the baddies in this film but he surely earned his spot in the list of the strongest characters in Mortal Kombat 2021 film in fourth place.

Top 3: Hanzo Hasashi/ Scorpion

Another character featured in the first seven minutes of the film released by Mortal Kombat, Hanzo Hasashi, also known as Scorpion, portrayed by Hiroyuki Sanada, took down several men in one sequence and with no sweat despite using only the tool he could find around him. Bearing the mark of a fighter, Hanzo proves that his strength and skills combined make him a deadly warrior.

In just such a short scene, it showed how he could make do of whatever he could pick up or find and make it lethal. Facing off another name in this list, Bi-Han/ Sub-Zero, Hanzo promises to kill him and in a short scene at the end of the same video, they do, easily topping Sub-Zero in this list of the strongest characters earning the top three spot.

Top 2: Emperor Shang-Tsung

Being the leader of the Outworld is telling of his capabilities as a character, because he wouldn't be the leader of such realm if he isn't strong enough to lord over other powered people there, right? His position alone could tell he's stronger and more powerful than Sub-Zero and that alone indicates how Shang-Tsung lands on the top 2 spots.

Shang-Tsung has the power to teleport himself as well as other people and knowing he is the ruler of the Outworld, he must have skills to couple his powers as well. In the game, he is known to take souls as well as the abilities the capabilities they have, and knowledge. If that doesn't make him a threat and a candidate as one of the strongest characters in the film then you must be out of your mind.

Top 1: Lord Raiden

The person on top of the list is none other than the Elder God and protector of the Earthrealm, Lord Raiden, portrayed by Tadanobu Asano. Known as the Thunder God, he does everything in his power to protect the Earth and its inhabitants. Another leadership that is telling on its own, Lord Raiden is a powerful character known to summon lightning and thunder at will, including electricity and all that comes with it.

Lord Raiden, in the game, can create forcefields, manipulate even weather, and can put up traps for opponents to be captured. Basically, he's a God, nothing can top that in the film. With a genuine perspective of protecting the Earthrealm and providing sanctuary for those bearing the mark, training them to become fighters, Lord Raiden definitely earns the top spot as the strongest character in the film.
