Mortal Kombat 2 is adding new characters from the Kingdom of Edania and the Outworld. The highly anticipated sequel also cast The Falcon and The Winter Soldier star Desmond Chiam as Shao Kahn's nemesis King Jerrod.
Mortal Kombat 2 Casts Shao Kahn, King Jerrod, Queen Sindel, and Quan Chi
Deadline reports that Mortal Kombat 2 has added four new actors. Kingsman: The Golden Circle star Martyn Ford has been cast as the terrifying Shao Kahn while The Falcon and The Winter Soldier actor Desmon Chiam will portray the villain's nemesis King Jerrod of Eldania.
They will be joined by Ana Thu Nguyen and Damon Herriman who have been cast as Queen Sindel and Quan Chi, respectively.
Shao Kahn's arrival is certainly a welcome one and the casting is pretty spot-on. Martyn Ford is an imposing actor and bodybuilder and there is little doubt his version of the villain is going to be just as terrifying as the video games.
The Mortal Kombat 2 casting updates have been exciting ones considering that the sequel appears to be adding a lot of promising actors.
It was previously confirmed that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina stars Tati Gabrielle and Adeline Rudolph have been cast as Jade and Kitana, respectively.
They will join The Boys actor Karl Urban who has reportedly been cast as Johnny Cage.
Mortal Kombat 2 will bring back Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, Mehcad Brooks as Jax Briggs, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, and Chin Han as Shang Tsung.
Joe Taslim, whose character Sub-Zero was seemingly killed off in the 2021 film, is still expected to return in the sequel.
Simon McQuoid will be back to direct the sequel which is being written by Jeremy Slater.
For now, Mortal Kombat 2 is in pre-production and has not yet been given an official release date. However, the sequel is already expected to hit theaters sometime next year. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
