Mortal Kombat Star Joe Taslim Pitches Sub-Zero Prequel

There is little doubt that Sub-Zero is one of the coolest characters in the Mortal Kombat reboot. Unfortunately, the cryokinetic warrior was killed off in the epic final battle against Cole Young and Scorpion. On the other hand, Joe Taslim still has plans for his awesome video game character. The Warrior star has just pitched a possible Sub-Zero prequel focusing on Bi-Han.

Bi-Han is one of the first characters we get to see in Mortal Kombat 2021 as we are brought to feudal Japan where he faces off against Hanzo Hasashi, the future Scorpion. He's also the Final Boss in the movie considering that his defeat led to Earthrealm's victory.

So does this mean Sub-Zero won't be back in Mortal Kombat 2? Taslim told The Hollywood Reporter that he's open to returning as Noob Saibot in the sequel. However, he also wants to explore Bi-Han's story a little further.

"To be honest, the most interesting path, in my opinion, is to do a prequel," Taslim said. He then pointed out that the spin-off movie could explore "a story about Bi-Han and his training in the Lin Kuei."

"When he got abducted by the Lin Kuei, his parents were killed. So it would be the process of him and his brother becoming assassins, and I think that's quite interesting as well," Taslim stated.

We're loving this idea and it's also very possible considering that Taslim has signed on to work on four more Mortal Kombat movies. There's a huge possibility that one of these films could be a prequel that could look into Bi-Han's past.

For now, Mortal Kombat 2 has not yet been officially announced. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
