Moon Knight Episode 1: Who is Duchamp?

As Steven experiences a lot of things after his encounter with the cult of Arthur Harrow, he got dumped by his date and he’s bummed considering he lost two and a half days of his life thinking he was just asleep when in fact, he didn’t. As he arrived home with a box of chocolates supposedly given to his date, he fed his goldfish some sprinkles only to realize that some things are not in order.

His table, for example, was not in its usual place and there was a rug in its location. He looked up and saw a panel from the ceiling in disorder. There, he found a key with a keychain with a certain logo, and a Motorola phone which has a long call log from one certain Layla and one name stood out because it was the only one that is different: Duchamp.

In the Marvel comics, Duchamp plays an important role in the life of Marc Spector and those who read the comics who saw his name on the phone would surely go ballistic because that name rings all the bells. Jean-Paul Duchamp is the best friend of Marc Spector in the comics. He is one of the closest people he has in his life. His nickname is Frenchie and he first appeared in the comics in Werewolf By Night #32 in 1975.

It is fitting because, in one of the featurettes of Moon Knight, there was a comic of Werewolf By Night on the table. Were they hinting at Duchamp’s arrival? Will he appear on the show? Well, if the castings posted by Marvel would make a surprise character appearing in the show where they were looking for someone who is 20 to 40 years of age who is fluent in French, it could be Duchamp.

Moon Knight Episode 1 is now streaming on Disney Plus. Episode 2 will arrive next week on April 6, 2022 at 3 AM, available in 4k.
