Meghan Markle officially joined the firm when she married Prince Harry in 2018. However, less than two years after tying the knot, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down from their royal duties and moved to California. A royal biographer shared new details about the move.

Why Meghan Markle Left Royals For Hollywood

British writer and investigative journalist Tom Bower dropped his newest book about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex titled Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the war between the Windsors. In his new tome, Bower claimed that Markle wanted to be in the top spot but couldn't achieve it, while in the royal family as members follow a hierarchy. So, she reportedly left and returned to Hollywood.

Bower shared the statement when he appeared on GB News' Breakfast with Eamonn and Isabel. The former BBC journalist shared the statement while weighing on Markle's reaction within the royal family.

"And very quickly she discovered she wasn't going to get the status of number one, which is what she wanted," Bower claimed on GB News. "There is only one number one in the Royal Family, and the rest of the family is there to support the Queen."

The royals follow a strict hierarchy, and every member puts the monarch as their priority. Queen Elizabeth will always have the spotlight, and the members of the firm have accepted that. Bower alleged that, unlike the other members of the royals, Markle couldn't grasp why she couldn't be as important, so she left.

"Meghan didn't understand why she wasn't in the spotlight and very quickly she decided she'd be better off in Hollywood," Bower said.

The royal biographer also shared the problem with Markle — her alleged desire to be in control.

"Meghan is a person who controls the narrative, that has been part of the problem," Bower said. "When she came to London to become part of the Royal Family, she couldn't understand why she wasn't more important and wasn't more in control of everything. And that's why she has fractious relationships with so many people."

Meghan Markle Reportedly Marries Prince Harry For Love And Status

Tom Bower also weighed in on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's relationship. For him, the former Suits star is clearly in love with her husband, and love is among the reasons she married him.

"We know the background and the motivation of a woman who clearly married into the Royal Family because she loved Harry, there's no doubt about that," Bower said about the couple. "But also because she loves the status."

Bower also found the royal couple to be "needy." And for him, they satisfied what they were looking for.

"I think they are both needy people, but I think the point is Meghan was on a manhunt," Bower claimed. "She was looking for a husband, an English husband, and Harry was available."

He added that Prince William's brother was "desperately looking for somebody" to be with him and Markle "fitted the bill." In Bower's words, Markle "provided everything he needed."

While many do not believe that their marriage will work, Bower thinks that it will because they seem to fill each other's needs.

"And they both needed each other, and I think to that extent, for Harry, it was a wonderful gift, a match made in heaven, and also for Meghan because that was the sort of person [she was] looking for, famous and rich."
