Prince William served as his younger brother Prince Harry's best man when the latter tied the knot with Meghan Markle in 2018. However, a body language expert noted that the Duke of Cambridge was reportedly more nervous than the groom at the time.
Prince William Was Reportedly Worried When Prince Harry Married Meghan Markle
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were in New York City Monday for the Nelson Mandela International Day. Body language expert Jesus Enrique Rosas analyzed their gestures during the outing. It turned out that he also studied Prince William's body language during the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's 2018 royal wedding.
According to the author of Body Language In 40 Days, Prince William displayed three signs that he might be worried about the future during the event.
In a video titled Three hidden panic signals that William displayed at Harry’s wedding on his The Body Language Guy YouTube channel, Rosas claimed that it was the Duke of Cambridge who was nervous during Prince Harry's big day, Mirror reported.
First, he noted how Kate Middleton's husband stretched his finger and released them.
"Basically, tensing any muscle and then releasing them helps relax the body. And I think that’s exactly what he was doing here," he said.
Second, he noted how Prince William reacted while they waited for Markle's arrival at the altar.
"We saw a totally different William when he was looking away from Harry," the expert added. "You can clearly see that William is clenching his jaw. It is easy to see the muscles tense, and how he presses and releases them. It’s the same pressing and release of the hands before entering the cathedral."
Third, he noticed how the third in line to the throne would glance in his brother's direction without turning his head with pursed lips.
"Usually when you are relaxed, you have no problem moving your head and your eyes at the same time," Rosas said. "But when you use just your eyes to look to one side, it can be a very subtle signal of nervousness, or being uncomfortable or trying not to draw much attention towards you."
Prince William And Prince Harry's Relationship After Royal Wedding
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to step down from their royal duties nearly two years after Meghan Markle joined the firm. The royal couple left the U.K. and chose to settle down in the United States.
According to reports, the move sparked a rift between the royal princes. However, royal historian Robert Lacey claimed in his book Battle of Brothers that they had a row that led to the Sussexes' departure.
Prince William allegedly told Prince Harry his belief that Markle had an "agenda." He also told his younger brother that his wife, Kate Middleton, was allegedly wary of the Duchess of Sussex.
"Meghan was following a plan—'agenda' was the word [William had] used to his friend—and the accusations he had just heard were alarming. Kate, he said, had been wary of her from the start," Lacey wrote per Marie Claire.

The feud left Prince William "deeply wounded" and Prince Harry "equally furious" and "fiercely combative."
"At the end of the day the British crown and all it stood for with its ancient traditions, styles and values—the mission of the monarchy—had to matter more to William than his brother did," he said.
Lacey noted that only the siblings know what they said to each other, but both have respectfully maintained their silence about the issue. However, the households were divided.
"Where could the two brothers go after such painful and damning notions had been thrown into their debate? Harry and Meghan appeared to be the ones who visibly departed after the row," Lacey claimed.
"William, for his part, felt just as strongly about Meghan and the need for her subversive 'agenda' to be removed from the operations of the British monarchy, which she did not appear to understand or respect."
