Prince William Ignored Prince Harry When He Patted His Back At The Polo Match
While speaking with Express, Judi James said that Prince Harry gave Prince William a pat on the back after the latter’s team won the game. But the Duke of Cambridge seemingly ignored his younger brother.
“William's fig-leaf hand gesture and a rather weary-looking smile look a world away from the more relaxed warmth from Charles and Doria at the other end of the group. The jury's still out then in terms of any rift, although neither Harry nor William appears to be in much of a hurry to show us all those non-verbal sibling bond and tie gestures that they grew up using,” James said.

Prince William And Prince Harry’s Polo Match Took Place After Their Households Were Separated
The timing of Prince William and Prince Harry’s polo match in 2019 was also scrutinized by royal biographer Duncan Larcombe. He’s convinced that the match was just all for a show to squash rumors of an alleged rift between the brothers. But it is important to note that the polo match took place shortly after the Cambridge and Sussex households were split.
At the time, Prince Harry and Markle moved their staffers to Buckingham Palace. And they also relocated to Frogmore Cottage after months of staying at Kensington Palace.
“It was carefully orchestrated — there are always photographers at these polo matches. They all looked very happy today, so it’s against the backdrop of the rift, of course… I think that they might not be the best of buddies. But you’ve got to take a lot with a pinch of salt… I think they’ll be rather pleased with those pictures,” Larcombe said.
Months later, Prince Harry and Markle announced their decision to quit The Firm. And more royal experts became convinced that this decision had something to do with Prince William. After all, the brothers have reportedly been at odds with each other.
Prince William, Prince Harry’s Feud Dates Back To 2017
However, royal author Katie Nicholl stressed that the rift between Prince William and Prince Harry started even before the polo match in 2019. In fact, the brothers already had a misunderstanding even while Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were still boyfriend and girlfriend.
Prince William expressed his concerns over Prince Harry’s decision to propose to Markle very early on. And the Duke of Sussex thought that this meant Prince William didn’t support their relationship.
“William was quite concerned that the relationship had moved so quickly. And being close to Harry, probably the only person close enough to say to Harry, This seems to be moving quickly, are you sure?’ I think what was meant as well intended brotherly advice just riled Harry. Harry is hugely protective of Meghan. He saw that as criticism. He interpreted that as his brother not really being behind this marriage, this union, and I don’t think things have been quite right ever since,” Nicholl said (via Cosmopolitan).
Around Christmas 2018, Prince William and Prince Harry had another misunderstanding. The latter reportedly felt that his older brother didn’t show his wife warmth.
“Harry felt William wasn’t rolling out the red carpet for Meghan and told him so. They had a bit of a fallout, which was only resolved when Charles stepped in and asked William to make an effort. That’s when the Cambridges invited the Sussexes to spend Christmas with them,” Nicholl said.
Four years later, some royal experts are saying that Prince William and Prince Harry’s relationship has already improved, while others are convinced that there’s still tension between the siblings.
