Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are subjects of a new book packed with criticisms and negative stories about the couple. Royal author Tom Bower reportedly spoke with several people who are either close to the Sussexes or have worked with them. However, some individuals are countering the author's statements.
Did Meghan Markle Get Upset After Her Relationship With Prince Harry Was Detailed In Her 2017 Interview?
In the book Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between Windsors, Bower discussed Meghan Markle’s 2017 interview with Vanity Fair, where she revealed that she was dating Prince Harry. The headline of the article states that the Suits alum is mad about her then-boyfriend.
But according to Bower, the headline and the information unveiled about Markle, and Prince Harry’s dating life angered the Duchess of Sussex. In fact, Bower also claimed that Prince Charles and Prince Harry urged Markle not to talk about her relationship, so they were shocked when the article came out.
Bower also claimed that journalist Sam Kashner, who interviewed Markle five years ago, accused her of manipulating the media.
“Clearly prepared, she balked when asked, ‘What does love mean?’ Instead, she asked Kashner about his marriage. Eventually, she uttered, ‘I’m sure there will be a time when we will have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell, but I hope what people will understand is that this is our time. This is for us. It’s part of what makes it so special, that it’s just ours. But we’re happy. I love a great love story,” Bower wrote (via Express).

Journalist Sam Kashner Debunks Tom Bower’s Claims About Meghan Markle
The royal author also alleged that Kashner hit the bullseye after Markle opened up about her relationship with Prince Harry.
“Tellingly, she added: ‘I’ve never defined myself by my relationship.’ She was an independent woman who would not be defined by her relationship with Harry,” Bower wrote.
After the article was released, Bower claimed that Kashner accused Markle of complaining about the piece because she wasn’t presented in the way that she wanted.
However, Kashner broke his silence to defend himself and Markle. In a lengthy letter published by Prince Harry and Markle’s journalist friend, Omid Scobie, he explained his side.
“Sir, I’m afraid Tom Bower didn’t convey my admiration and respect for Meghan Markle in the excerpt from his new book in The Times on Saturday (‘Writer ‘felt manipulated’ by Meghan). I found, Ms. Markle to be exceptionally warm and gracious and admired her intelligence and her remarkable courage, as I still do. I regretted the oft-published account of challenging Proctor & Gamble being edited out of my Vanity Fair article because I’d wanted to highlight her lifelong activism. The piece itself is quite laudatory. Kashner wrote.
Revenge: Meghan, Harry, And The War Between Windsors Author Claims About Queen Elizabeth Under Scrutiny
Kashner isn’t the only one countering Bower’s claims. Royal expert Victoria Arbiter also defended Queen Elizabeth after she was accused of airbrushing Prince Harry and Markle from history. After all, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s family photo was not featured during the monarch’s Christmas broadcast in 2019.
However, Arbiter explained that the queen must have had a reason for not including the couple’s family portrait. After all, she wanted to focus on the line of succession. And she also wanted to give Britons reassurance following Prince Andrew’s disastrous interview.
