In 2017, Us Weekly confirmed that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are on speaking terms again after their shocking split. The magazine, at the time, reported that the Hollywood couple is now in a place where they can put anger or pain aside to focus on their children.
Now, a new report claims “face-blind” Brad Pitt could not recognize his friends and family following his stunning claim that he is battling a bizarre brain disorder. Keep on reading to know more details.
Brad Pitt Believes He Is Suffering From ‘Face Blindness’ Disorder
National Enquirer, in its upcoming July 25, 2022 issue, reported that Brad Pitt’s alleged rare condition is preventing him from recognizing his own friends and family. The former husband of Angelina Jolie previously admitted he has been struggling with what he believes to be the rare neurological disorder prosopagnosia, which is also known as face blindness.
Dr. Nilay Shah told the entertainment news outlet:
“It’s a condition affecting the part of the brain that helps us recognize people’s faces. It can be acquired from a stroke or when a part of the brain dies. Sufferers suddenly can’t place their own parents, spouses or even their children without help.”
While Brad Pitt admitted that he had not been clinically diagnosed to be suffering from prosopagnosia, the Ad Astra actor is still convinced he has the condition and fears it causes people to find him rude or aloof.
The ex-lover of Angelina Jolie said:
“So many people hate me because they think I’m disrespecting them. You get this thing, like, ‘You’re being egotistical. You’re being conceited!’ But it’s a mystery to me, man.”
Brad Pitt insisted he is going to have a detailed medical exam. Dr. Nilay Shah shared that the often misunderstood can only be detected through extensive testing, noting:
“It’s not like you do an MRI, and you see the spot missing on the brain.”
An unnamed source told the magazine that Brad Pitt uses a series of tricks and techniques to hide his symptoms. It added:
“When he is at public events, Brad has an assistant to cue about everyone in the room, or on a set, to jostle his memory. Brad has other tricks, like asking people to introduce themselves, repeating their names and using small talk to buy more time for his memory to kick in.”
While the New Jersey-based neurologist applauds the efforts of Brad Pitt, Dr. Nilay Shah said the condition is not likely to improve and will be harder to deal with as he ages.
The doctor, who has not treated Angelina Jolie’s ex-husband, furthered:
“It gets more difficult as you get older. You are not as good in terms of recognizing someone using those techniques because your brain is slowing down.”
The National Institute of Health, per National Enquirer, advises people with the said condition to focus on a person’s voice, clothing or mannerisms rather than facial features to recognize them.
Brad Pitt has yet to comment on Dr. Nilay Shah’s statements about his reportedly rare neurological condition.
