Meghan Markle and Prince Harry signed a multi-year deal with Netflix last year, and royal fans are expecting some exciting content from the couple.

However, Prince Harry’s Invictus Games documentary is still in the works, and Markle’s animated series, Pearl, has already been canceled even before it aired. As of writing, no one knows what content the couple is working on, but there are rumors that they could appear in a reality TV show.

Are Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Starring In A Reality TV Show Or Documentary For Netflix?

Last month, Express revealed that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had already hired a director for their reality TV show. The couple reportedly tapped director Liz Garbus for the upcoming project, and she’s best known for directing projects about true crime, voter suppression, and the justice system.

However, royal expert Angela Mollard isn’t convinced that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would star in a documentary or a reality TV show for Netflix. After all, they don’t have any new content to share with the world.

“They in a sense gave away for free to Oprah Winfrey a lot of content. They've told her a lot. So, what exclusivity does Netflix have if they were to do a documentary with them? I think if you were the boss of Netflix you would be thinking, 'am I getting the money worth with these two?' Voicing a couple of documentaries is really not cutting it. There has to be an alignment of brands and I don't think that's happening at this stage,” Mollard told the publication.

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Were Banned From Recording Footage At The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

Ahead of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, there were also reports that Prince Harry and Markle agreed to attend so that they could get some footage for their Netflix documentary. However, their plans were allegedly squashed after Queen Elizabeth banned cameras from entering the palace grounds.

Prince Harry and Markle didn’t also get to hang out with the members of the royal family other than Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Zara Tindall, their respective spouses, and Peter Phillips.

Queen Elizabeth Didn’t Want To Be Photographed Publicly With Prince Harry, Meghan Markle’s Daughter

After the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee wrapped up, royal expert Russell Myers told TODAY that the monarch didn’t also want to be photographed with her great-granddaughter, Lilibet Diana, for fear that their image would appear in Prince Harry and Markle’s documentary.

“The Queen did get to meet her great-granddaughter Lilibet. There was no official photography being placed but the reports were that Harry and Meghan did want their friend Misan Harriman to come and have a picture with the Queen. Of course, that would have been a nice family moment but the palace was absolutely adamant that it couldn't take place. You can't blame them because Harry and Meghan are still rumored to be doing this fly-on-the-wall documentary with Netflix. It's all getting quite messy,” he said.

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Could Appear In An At-Home Docuseries

In May, Page Six insisted that an at-home docuseries featuring Prince Harry and Markle is already being discussed. However, the timing is still being finalized. Sources got the idea that a docuseries could be secretly in the works after seeing how cameras followed Prince Harry and Markle in the Netherlands.

As such, a source claimed that the same camera crew was also allowed to record clips of the couple while they were at home and during their trip to New York.

“The cameras have been allowed behind the scenes at their home in Montecito, Calif., and joined the Sussexes on their trip to NYC last September. It’s fair to say that Netflix is getting its pounds of flesh,” the source said.
