Marvel's Infinity Countdown Is Leading To Infinity Wars

Ever since it was announced fans have been wondering what Marvel's Infinity Countdown was counting down to. The publisher has finally answered this, revealing that Infinity Countdown will lead to Infinity Wars, Marvel's latest crossover event. It seems like the company's corporate synergy is on full display since Infinity War is also the name of April's massive Avengers movie.

Not many details are known thus far, though Marvel has assured fans that more will be revealed during C2E2. Writer Gerry Duggan will write the series, which isn't a huge surprise since he also wrote the still ongoing Infinity Countdown event. Artist Mike Deodato Jr. will draw the event, along with colorist Frank Martin.

The cover of the event is fairly interesting, showing a mysterious new character alongside some of Marvel's more well-known heroes and villain. Thanos, Loki, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Gamora, and Star-Lord are all featured prominently, with a mysterious figure looming in the background.

Adam Warlock appears to be on the cover as well, wearing a costume similar to Captain Marvel's old Ms. Marvel/Warbird attire.

Infinity Wars starts with Infinity Wars: Prime, which seems to be coming out this July. The film of a similar name, Avengers: Infinity War, comes out on April 27.
