A lot of fans have been looking forward to the fourth season of The Mandalorian. However, its production start was pushed back last year due to the Hollywood strikes that affected all major projects across the industry.
There have also been rumors for the past few months that Lucasfilm was planning to turn the fourth season into a feature film instead, but the studio did not confirm the report during that time.
Now, we finally have a new update on the show's highly-anticipated return and it looks like the rumors surrounding Din Djarin and Grogu's jump to the big screen are true after all.

Lucasfilm Announces The Mandalorian & Grogu Movie
Lucasfilm has announced that they are working on The Mandalorian movie titled The Mandalorian & Grogu. Production is set to begin later this year.
The show's creator, Jon Favreau, is directing the film. He will also produce the project alongside Dave Filoni and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. No release date has been set yet at the moment.
"I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created," Favreau said in the announcement. "The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting."
Kennedy added, "Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into Star Wars two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen."
It is officially the first Star Wars movie that will head to production after the release of The Rise of Skywalker in 2019. It is unclear yet whether the fourth season of the series will still happen.
This is also one of the many Star Wars movie projects that are currently in the works alongside the new Daisy Ridley movie, the Dave Filoni MandoVerse movie, and the James Mangold movie.
It will be interesting to see what kind of direction they go with The Mandalorian's jump to the big screen and how heavily connected it will be to the Disney+ shows.
The biggest question that fans may also wonder is whether this is a sign of the end of The Mandalorian as a TV series on Disney+ or if the movie is simply just a separate story that is set between the third and fourth seasons.
