The third season of The Mandalorian aired on Disney+ last year to solid success. While the reception wasn't as glowing as the first two seasons, a lot of fans still tuned in weekly to witness Din Djarin and Grogu's adventures in the galaxy far, far away.

It also had impressive viewership as it became the most-watched series during its entire eight-week run. Its fellow Star Wars series Ahsoka also held similar records when it aired months later.

Now that we're in the new year, you might be wondering about how the show fared in its overall viewership compared to the other streaming originals that aired in 2023.

In a recent report from TheWrap, analytics firm Whip Media revealed that the third season of The Mandalorian is the most-watched streaming original series in the U.S. in 2023 based on the data that they compiled from January to November of that year using their TV Time app.

It was followed by another Disney+ series, the second season of Loki, which ranked second on the chart. The third (and presumably final) season of Ted Lasso rounded out the Top 3 rankings.

Meanwhile, Ahsoka was in ninth place in the chart. To what might be the surprise of some fans, the critically panned MCU series Secret Invasion was able to rank slightly higher in the seventh spot.

Despite Disney+ nabbing the top two rankings in the charts, Netflix is still the dominant streaming service overall as they have eleven original shows in the Top 30 rankings.

This is an impressive record for the Star Wars show's third season since it shows that it still has a lot of viewers despite its mixed reception compared to the first two which received more favorable reviews.

A fourth season is now on its way as it is set to begin production soon. There were rumors recently that Lucasfilm might turn it into a feature film instead, but it was quickly shot down.

Given its impressive viewership records, there is no reason for Lucasfilm and Disney+ to not continue the series as long as they can and the numbers suggest they still have more-than-solid ratings that can justify its longevity.

The first three seasons of The Mandalorian are available to stream on Disney+.
