Kaguya-sama: Love is War Chapter 253 Recap
The head of the Shinomiya family finally agrees to talk with Miyuki, having heard his discussion with the doctor. On a basic level, Gan'an Shinomiya understands that he has not been a good father to Kaguya, nor is he going to give Miyuki an easy time though.
Miyuki produces a marriage certificate, asking Gan'an to sign and bless a marriage with Kaguya. With surprising clarity for a member of such a traditional family, Gan'an reminds Miyuki that Kaguya still broke up with him, and, even if they get back together, it would be horrifying for Kaguya to find that she is legally married without having consented.
Un'yo recognizes that Miyuki's plan is more complicated than that. He knows that, if Kaguya was legally married, even for a day, the arranged marriage into the Shinto family would be delayed, perhaps even canceled, as the Shintos wouldn't want their heir to marry a divorced woman.
Gan'an still refuses, saying that Kaguya has accepted her duty to serve her family. Miyuki tells him that, in his opinion, Kaguya isn't that selfless. While, on the surface, it may appear that she's interested in helping her family, Miyuki believes that her ulterior motives were more personal. Having waited for her father's love in vain for years, she treated serving the family as a final attempt to get close to him.
Finally, Gan'an decides to help, not by solving the problem, but by giving Miyuki another challenge. Gan'an knows that due to his declining mental state, he cannot change his will to favor Kaguya. He does, however, share the location of his accepted will. If Miyuki and his friends were to destroy it, the heirs would have to divide the Shinomiya fortune equally amongst themselves or reach a mutual agreement - a fact that would give Kaguya a fighting chance.
Kaguya-sama: Love is War Chapter 254 Release Date
Kaguya-Sama Love Is War Chapter 254 is going to be released on Friday, the 18th of February in Japan. In Europe, Canada, and the US, it will be available from the 17th of February onwards.
