Miyuki finally gains access to the Shinomiya household, where the family doctor awaits. The doctor gives Miyuki more insights into the relationship between Kaguya's parents. Her mother was a club hostess with unparalleled charm, and the head of the Shinomiya family became devoted to her. When she suffered heart disease, she had to take time off work, only to appear on the Shinomiyas' doorstep pregnant a few months later.
The head of the Shinomiya family still cared about her and took her in despite everyone's protests. Kaguya's mother died giving birth to her, however. From there on, he would always entrust his daughter's upbringing to others, as the girl reminded him too much of her mother. Miyuki hopes that Kaguya's father will at least feel some regrets for not participating in her life, and decide to do something good for her towards the end of his life.
