Jujutsu Kaisen Star Joins One Piece Film: Red as Mysterious New Character

One Piece Film: Red dropped a lot of major updates today. This includes a new trailer, poster, theme song teasers, and voice actor announcements. In addition to revealing the voice actor for Uta, it has been confirmed that Jujutsu Kaisen star Kenjiro Tsuda will join the cast as the mysterious Gordon!

It was announced that Kenjiro Tsuda will be joining the cast of One Piece Film: Red. Tsuda has been chosen to portray Gordon, a completely new character in the franchise. Although details about Gordon were not revealed during the announcement, it is suggested that the character will play an important role in the highly anticipated movie.

It's interesting to note that this is the second role Tsuda will play in the One Piece franchise. He previously provided the voice of Vinsmoke Yonji in the main anime series and the video game One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4.

Incidentally, Tsuda will be reuniting with Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection co-star Kaori Nazuka (who will play Uta in Red) as well as director Goro Taniguchi for this movie. With Taniguchi helming Red, it would make sense for Tsuda and Nazuka to be chosen for such important roles.

Tsuda is known for a lot of major anime roles including Kento Nanami in Jujutsu Kaisen and Jujutsu Kaisen 0, Overhaul in My Hero Academia, Manji in Blade of the Immortal, and The Beholder in To Your Eternity.

The film will star Mayumi Tanaka as Monkey D. Luffy, Kazuya Nakai as Roronoa Zoro, Akemi Okamura as Nami, Kappei Yamaguchi as Usopp, Hiroaki Hirata as Sanji, Ikue Otani as Chopper, Yuriko Yamaguchi as Nico Robin, Kazuki Yao as Franky, Cho as Brook, Katsuhisa Hoki as Jimbei, and Shuichi Ikeda as Red-Haired Shanks.

One Piece Film: Red will be released in theaters in Japan on August 6, 2022. The international release dates have not yet been announced.
