The new trailer for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 has just been dropped and it features a lot of never-before-seen footage from the Hidden Inventory / Premature Death arc. In addition to that, the new teaser offers a preview of the second season's opening theme by Tatsuya Kitani.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2's new trailer was dropped during the anime's special panel at MAPPA Stage 2023 this weekend. The trailer puts the focus on Suguru Geto before offering another glimpse at the epic fight between Satoru Gojo and Toji Fushiguro.
The new trailer also offers a preview of Ao no Sumika by Tatsuya Kitani, which will serve as the show's opening theme for the second season. The full song has not yet been released.
Jujutsu Kaisen's special panel at MAPPA Stage 2023 was attended by the anime's original cast members Junya Enoki (Yuji Itadori), Yuma Uchida (Megumi Fushiguro), and Asami Seto (Nobara Kugisaki).
They were joined by Jujutsu Kaisen 0 star Megumi Ogata, who played Yuta Okkotsu in the film. Ogata's attendance at MAPPA Stage 2023 led to speculations that Yuta will show up in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2.
One cast member who was not in attendance was Takahiro Sakurai who has not made a public appearance since his recent controversy. The new trailer features more of Sakurai as Suguru Geto, firmly confirming that the character will not be recast.
Takahiro Sakurai already played Suguru Geto in the first season of the main anime and in the prequel film Jujutsu Kaisen 0 so it's only natural that fans were expecting him to return in Season 2.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 will adapt the Gojo's Past arc (retitled Hidden Inventory / Premature Death Arc in the anime) and the Shibuya Incident arc of Gege Akutami's manga. The second season will consist of two consecutive cours, the first of which will premiere on July 6, 2023.
