Jujutsu Kaisen Anime Raised Manga Sales Up To 600%

Jujutsu Kaisen definitely became one of the most popular anime shows earlier this year and it is safe to say that the first season was a complete success, thanks to MAPPA for making it possible. Yuji Itadori and the sorcerers facing the curses surely made their own name in the anime scene that it raises the manga sales up to 600%.

The anime series is from the pages of the Japanese supernatural shōnen manga series of the same name by Gege Akutami published in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump in March 2018. It also has a light novel series. In January 2021, Jujutsu Kaisen manga ranked second in Oricon's weekly manga ranking.

Since then, the interest of the readers in the story piqued, and not long after, in 2020, the story of Yuji Itadori finally arrived on the small screen, getting the title more fans and viewers than ever, even having a prequel film, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, coming soon.

By the time of the debut of the anime series, Jujutsu Kaisen had, more or less, eight and a half million copies in circulation. Following the end of the show, the manga copies went boom, having more than forty-five million copies just in April this year. Surely, there would be more as the show continues to pique the interest of many, despite being over, in preparation for the prequel film and of course, to know about the whole story.

Looking at the progress of the manga sales of Jujutsu Kaisen, it raised up to more or less 600% because of the release of the anime series. It became one of the most popular titles for Weekly Shonen Jump.

Jujutsu Kaisen follows an occult-loving student, Yuji Itadori, and his fateful encounter with a powerful curse, Sukuna, where in order to save his friends in school, he became the bearer of Sukuna which gave him extraordinary powers of a curse despite being possessed by one at the same time, and because of this, he passes the point of no return so he has to train with a secret group of sorcerers.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is scheduled for release on December 24, 2021, in Japan. There is no news yet as to the international release of the prequel film.
