Jason Momoa Responds to Batman v Superman Backlash

When Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was released, the DC film didn't exactly sit well with most critics and some comic book fans.

Fans who loved the movie so much have petitioned for a theatrical release of the film's R-rated cut. Meanwhile, those who didn't like the film had been extreme with their reactions as well. Some of those people have even petitioned to remove Batman v Superman director Zack Snyder to be removed from the entire DC franchise. There are also rumors now that Warner Bros. could be releasing fewer DC films due to the negative response.

Critics or no critics, Aquaman star Jason Momoa, who played the titular superhero in Batman v Superman and who will play the role as well in Justice League Part One, has said that he does not care for the negativity. The 36-year-old actor has responded to the negative reviews with his social media sites since the backlash, and now he's doing it again in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

The former Game of Thrones star said:

There's been some things here and there, but I'm stoked. There's a lot of support from fans.
There's a big beautiful world. There's a lot -- a lot -- of stuff. I feel really privileged to know that there's a lot of big, beautiful stuff that's going to happen. I'm excited too, for people to see the final product. And now it's our turn -- it's Justice League time! I've been waiting for four years that I've known about it that I've had to keep my mouth shut. I'm super pumped to shoot it!
Some people liked it, some people didn't, it is what it is," he added. "I don't get it, but I don't really listen to what anyone says...You can't win 'em all. And I had a ball. I loved it.

The ET interview was generally focused on Momoa's passion for directing commercials, so it begs the question whether he's interested in directing his own superhero film. Momoa answered this question too, saying:

Noooooo way! I don't think I could do it. Props to all the directors who do these movies, but it just baffles me. I'm excited to experience it on Justice League, I've never been on something quite this size.

As for the recent casting of Amber Heard as Aquaman's love interest, Mera, Momoa said:

I'm super stoked. She's awesome!

I have to agree with Momoa on this one. You really can't please them all, especially when it comes to movie audiences and critics. Hopefully, more people will love his DC films more than Emilia Clarke loves his "penis" and more than how some hated Batman v Superman.

Justice League Part One hits theaters on November 2017. Aquaman is slated for release on July 27, 2018.
