Injustice 2 Shattered Alliances Trailer Teases Superman vs. Batman Showdown

True to its word, NetherRealm Studios has released a new trailer for Injustice 2. It’s a mix of a foundational narrative sneak peek and some gameplay clashes and pre-fight scenes that give us a potential hint as to who’s on which side of the skirmish this time around.

If there’s one thing for sure, Batman and Superman are still not seeing eye-to-eye, as one of the cutscenes sees Batman basically addressing Superman as a villain:

“In my years fighting crime, I’ve learned one truth. That every villain is the hero of his own story.”

It’s then that we see Superman seemingly getting out of prison and facing off against the Dark Knight. And from the looks of it, the points of view of the two heroes are still at a very odd clash. Interestingly, both seem to still be on the side of keeping crime at bay.

The Injustice 2 trailer also teases a number of the upcoming heroes in the game, including Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Damian Wayne, Harley Quinn, and Supergirl.

Almost chilling is Clark’s own words, which seem to be directed at his cousin: “You’re either with me or against me.”

So does this mean we’ll still have an antagonistic Superman in our midst? It seems that the goal of the trailer is to show just how high the Superman’s regime will rise.

Since this is a part 1 sneak peek, I’m guessing a second round is in order? Funnily enough, the trailer teases that Superman’s regime is supposedly rising up to become "one of Earth’s greatest threats." Because of course, someone may actually be working behind the scenes to bring graver days.

Injustice 2 will be out on the PS4 and Xbox One on May 16. It will also have a tie-in comic series, as well as the Injustice 2 mobile game.
