Ian McDiarmid Teases Palpatine's Return in Upcoming Star Wars Series

We already know that there will be a lot of familiar faces in the upcoming Star Wars shows. But which one will feature the franchise's most sinister villain? Ian McDiarmid has just teased that Emperor Palpatine is set for a comeback in one of the new Disney+ shows soon!

Ian McDiarmid had previously returned in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker where it was revealed that Palpatine has been the real villain all along. The film concluded with the character's real death which should leave out any possibilities of his return. However, that hasn't stopped McDiarmid from teasing Palpatine cameos in the future.

McDiarmid recently attended the Imperial Commissary Collectors Convention where he revealed that Palpatine could be back in one of the new Star Wars shows on Disney+.

"There’s a certain show coming soon set right around the time I may have considered to be very active," McDiarmid said. He then teased that it might not be a huge cameo from his character.

"Whether or not you will see my physical body, I cannot comment on. But you will certainly feel my presence," McDiarmid added.

It's an interesting tease considering that there are two Star Wars shows that are expected to premiere this year. Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to air by late May and will feature Palpatine's former apprentice Darth Vader so it wouldn't be a huge surprise if Palpatine himself makes an appearance. However, it's also possible that we'll see the character in the other series.

Andor is also set before the events in the original Star Wars trilogy films so there is a chance Palpatine could show up in the series. With that in mind, we're already looking forward to both shows.

Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi will premiere on Disney+ on May 27, 2022. Andor has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
