Hugh Jackman is set to return as Wolverine next year in Deadpool 3 where he will team up with Ryan Reynolds' titular mercenary for a multiverse adventure and possibly reunite with his X-Men colleagues if the rumors are true.

It is unknown at the moment how he will exactly play into the story of the film and which version of the character he is going to show up since we've already witnessed his death in 2017's Logan.

There have also been questions about whether Jackman's upcoming MCU appearance will just be a one-off or whether he will show up in more projects, particularly in Avengers: Secret Wars which will be the culmination of the Multiverse Saga.

So far, Marvel Studios remains mum on any details regarding their plans for the Oscar-nominated actor's potential future in the franchise after Deadpool 3.

According to insider Daniel Richtman (via Heroic Hollywood), Jackman was in talks with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige for a larger role in Avengers: Secret Wars prior to the current actors' strike.

They claimed that the Oscar nominee is all in for continuing to play Wolverine in a bigger way in the upcoming event film. So far, Marvel Studios has not commented on the rumor.

For months, there have been rumors that Jackman's Wolverine will have a pivotal role in Secret Wars which is likely to happen given that the film will be a culmination of the multiverse storyline. It's been speculated for a while that most actors from past Marvel movies are returning for this event.

Assuming that the film will have similar storylines as the source material, it's definitely going to be an ambitious feat for Marvel Studios since there will be high expectations in both the fan service aspect and the quality of the movie.

Considering that Jackman is already part of the MCU family with Deadpool 3, it's also not surprising that they were in conversations to have him continue the role and give him the definitive conclusion of his tenure as the character.

Since the actors' strike is currently halting any deals and negotiations between the talent and the studios, it will take a while before we hear any definitive signs about Jackman's potential role in Secret Wars.
