Marvel Studios have teamed up with Disney+ to create a new line of tv series based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe and its characters. New shows that are slated to be released in 2021 include WandaVision, Loki, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Ms. Marvel, and Hawkeye.
WandaVision is the first in the new line of shows and will feature the title characters Wanda Mamixoff (played by Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (played by Paul Bettany). The series will be produced by Kevin Feige and directed by Matt Shakman.
Other characters to appear in WandaVision include Teyonah Parris, Kat Dennings, Randall Park, and Kathryn Hahn. That's an interesting crew of actors, especially Kat Dennings. She appeared in Thor as an intern for his love interest Jane Foster (who will later wield Thor's powers in the upcoming film Thor: Love and Thunder).
The series premise is quite unusual and will feature a black and white episode that takes place in a 1950s setting. The rest of the series is expected to be in color. Many have wondered how Vision is still alive in the series, as we last saw him die in Avengers: Infinity War. No, this show doesn't take place at a time when he was alive, as the WandaVision series timeline is confirmed after the events of Engame.
The WandaVision synopsis is as follows:
"Marvel Studios' WandaVision blends the style of classic sitcoms with the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany)—two super-powered beings living their ideal suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems."
So how can you watch the series once it is released? Unfortunately, there is no way to watch WandaVision without getting a Disney+ subscription, which costs $6.99 per month or $69.99 for an annual subscription. However, you can get a free trial of Disney+ for 7 days. So fear not! If you wait until the series is over and start a free trial, you will be able to watch the entire series for free.
Sadly, if you have already used up your free trial, or do not want to subscribe to Disney+ there is no other way to watch the show. WandaVision will not be released on Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, Amazon Prime, or become available to rent on cable or anywhere else. In fact, even a DVD release for WandaVision is unlikely.
