Ellen Pompeo was bidding goodbye as a series regular on Grey's Anatomy Thursday. So, fans were expecting more on how the series would send off Meredith Grey for a new life in Boston, and they were not happy with it.

For Pompeo's final scene, her colleagues gave her a toast as she begins her new life in Boston.
"You know, once upon a time, you were the bane of my existence, but no, you grew up to become one of my points of pride," Dr. Bailey said before choking up, per Entertainment Tonight.
"Dr. Grey, what Dr. Bailey is trying to say is that this place won't be the same without you," Dr. Webber added.
However, the finale wasn't enough for fans who expected more tribute for Pompeo's character, Meredith, who had been around for 19 seasons. Many were disappointed with what they witnessed on Thursday's episode.
Grey's Anatomy Fans Disappointed With Meredith's Final Scenes?
Many fans didn't hide their disappointment after watching the final scenes of Pompeo as Meredith. For them, there was not enough tribute for such a huge character in the series.
Some noticed the lack of montage. Others were not just disappointed but furious at how the network allegedly treated Pompeo's exit.
"We could've gotten a montage like this for Meredith Grey's goodbye and y'all gave us that garbage like be so fr rn," one tweeted with a montage of Meredith from the series.
"I thought Karev's ending was bad. But THIS?!?!? WHO APPROVED THIS?!? I want pink slips for everyone involved who thought this is how you say goodbye to MEREDITH GREY," a furious fan added.
"What did Ellen Pompeo do to deserve this horrible send off OMG!?!?!?!?! This is worse than when Alex left at least they gave it some razzle dazzle and trauma?!?$ wtf!!!!" another viewer wrote with a photo of an animated girl that appeared to be crying.
"For this to be Meredith Grey's last episode and it's this BORING, with NO FLASHBACK scenes, and NO ALEX OR CRISTINA, this is tragic," another viewer claimed.
What Did Ellen Pompeo Say About Her Departure
Pompeo revealed the reason why she decided to leave Grey's Anatomy after 19 seasons when she appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show in December. Apparently, she wanted some changes after being part of the series for nearly two decades.
"I feel super happy," she told host Drew Barrymore about her decision exit.
She added, explaining the reason behind her departure:
"But listen, the show has been incredible to me and I've loved a lot of the experience ... It's just I gotta mix it up a little bit. I'm 53, my brain is like scrambled eggs ... I gotta do something new or I'm literally gonna turn into, like, you can't do the New York Times crossword puzzle every single day."
Although she bid her goodbye to Grey Sloan and will no longer be part of the series week in and week out, Pompeo said that she will still return for a cameo. However, that may not happen soon.
"For the record, it' not really my final," she told Entertainment Tonight. "It's a little bit of a trick they're playing on people."
However, she confirmed that she wouldn't be around for a while:
"It is my final episode for a while."
