Game of Thrones is concerned to be one of the multi-awarded series in recent years. And while nominations and wins from notable awards shows have been celebrated, even the behind-the-scenes accolades are not lacking for the HBO Original.
In the Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards, Game of Thrones managed to rack up two wins for its ensemble's creative makeup. This means two wins out of three nominations for the show, Watchers on the Wall reported. These two categories are Best Period and/or Character Makeup and Best Period and/or Character Hair Styling for a Television and New Media Series.
The win is pretty great, considering they were up against the likes of Stranger Things, Penny Dreadful, and Westworld. The production crew who won for the award include Jane Walker and Kay Bilk for the Best Character Makeup and Kevin Alexander and Candice Banks for the Best Character Hair Styling award.
In a more recent awards show, the Costume Designers Guild Awards, both April Ferry and Michele Clapton had won the category for Outstanding Fantasy Television Series.
It's good to see Game of Thrones being recognized for the behind-the-scenes effort. After all, creating that world goes well beyond just the actors' skills to make you feel anger, excitement or shame.
Game of Thrones will be back for another run come summer this year.
