It's almost time for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series so what can we expect in the upcoming Star Wars project? Ewan McGregor is hyping up how the new show will actually feel more like a movie compared to the previous shows on Disney+. The Birds of Prey star then made a comparison between The Mandalorian and his new series.
Ewan McGregor has already been talking about how exciting Obi-Wan Kenobi is going to be. The Doctor Sleep actor, who is currently promoting the limited series, recently attended a press conference where he spoke about how director Deborah Chow made it feel like they were shooting another Star Wars film.
"The technology is so different from when we made the original movies that it felt like a different experience anyway," McGregor said. "But because Deb directed them all and it's her singular vision throughout, it did feel like we were just making one movie. And the episodic nature of our series falls really cleverly in the storyline, but it is one driving narrative."
He then continued by comparing Obi-Wan Kenobi to The Mandalorian.
"I think The Mandalorian feels more episodic, if you like, because it suits that storytelling and it, of course, has a driving storyline through each season. But ours is like a movie that just happens to be split up into these episodes. That's how I feel about it," McGregor said.
It's an interesting observation and a cool way to once again tease what Obi-Wan Kenobi is all about. We already have an idea of what will happen in the series and we certainly can't wait to see all of the episodes in the next few weeks.
Obi-Wan Kenobi will also star Hayden Christensen, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Moses Ingram, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O'Shea Jackson Jr., Kumail Nanjiani, Simone Kessell, Benny Safdie, Maya Erskine, and Sung Kang. The series will premiere on May 27, 2022.
