Shueisha and Viz Media have released the latest monthly manga chapters for Dragon Ball Super and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. While Dragon Ball Super finally concludes the battle against Gas of the Heeter Force with a shocking surprise, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations comes back stronger after a month-long hiatus, and it also comes with a major development from the current arc's main antagonist, Code.
Of course, shonen fans are excited to read what comes next for both these popular manga series, so let's take a quick look at what Dragon Ball Super Chapter 87 and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Chapter 72 are about.
Dragon Ball Super Chapter 87, titled The Universe's Strongest Appears, continues the dragged-out battle against Gas, who looks really old now. Goku, Vegeta, and Granolah struggle to fight the powerful villain, but the fight doesn't last long. Frieza surprisingly shows up after Elec calls him, but the Heeter Force leader's plans backfires when Frieza finds out what his true intentions. Frieza finishes Gas off with ease, and everyone is shocked.
Frieza reveals that he's able to squeeze in ten years worth of training in a chamber where time flows differently. The villain is able to achieve a new power-up known as "Black Frieza". With this form, he's able to take down Ultra Instinct Goku and Ultra Ego Vegeta easily. Whis arrives to take Goku and Vegeta to Beerus, and when Goku asks who the Strongest Warrior in the Universe the oracle fish is referring to, Whis says that perhaps the strongest warrior emerged elsewhere in the universe.

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Chapter 72, titled Smaller and More Useful, raises up the threats for the Hidden Leaf Village to deal with. With Amado, Eida, and Daemon in the Land of Snow, Shikimaru is surprised to hear from Amado after he was kidnapped by Code. Amado is planning to take Eida and Daemon to Konoha, and Shikimaru is not happy that Amado is making big decisions without the village's authority.
Meanwhile, Boruto is encounters Momoshiki's spirit again, and the villain tells him that he can't control his destiny. The latter half of the chapter focuses on Code creating an army using the chakra of the Ten Tails while he explains to Bug that he's distributing the beast's powers in smaller and more useful forms. The creatures Code creates look similar to Frieza and White Zetsu.
