In the previous chapter of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Amado was able to survive Code's multiple attempts to kill him after Eida summons Daemon to stop Code from killing him. Eida decided to do this after Amado told her that Kawaki is the ace up his sleeve, and Daemon easily overpowers him, through it's still unclear if Code is more powerful that Eida's brother.

Amado revealed that he planted something else within Kawaki other than the Karma, which is a unique emergency shutdown command code that only he can use. Amado explained that it's Konoha's job to manage Kawaki, but this concerns other villages too, so this means that they have no choice but to rely on him.

According to Amado, the shutdown function is just insurance to protect his standing in the village. However, his main objective is different, and that Kawaki's Karma is necessary to achieve it.

When Eida threatened Amado to spill the truth, Amado said that that he'll talk but it's a long story, and it's something that he'll need to tell Konoha as well. Amado asked Eida if she can wait until they get there. Chapter 72 might reveal what Amado's ultimate goal is, and this could possilbly confirm the theory that claims that Amado is actually a villain.

A timeskip is expected to come in a future chapter of Boruto, but Chapter 72 probably won't have one.

V-Jump shared an appendix card preview text for Boruto Chapter 72 that reads: "Code gang is now separated! Amado and the others head back to Konoha...!"

Major spoilers from Boruto Chapter 72 have been leaked, and they revealed these spoiler details:
