Doom Patrol Season 4 Trailer Confirms ‘Immortus is Real,’ Hints End of Days

HBO Max has dropped the official trailer for Doom Patrol Season 4, teasing what’s about to come. Aside from the intense turn of events, the preview also confirms “Immortus is real.”

After more than a year, the group of traumatized and downtrodden superheroes will return to Doom Patrol Season 4. As they prepare for their next epic adventure, the team is about to face their greatest challenge yet.

Doom Patrol Season 4 Trailer

“Something very big and very dangerous is headed our way,” Willoughby (Mark Sheppard) tells the Doom Patrol. “Immortus is real, and it’s coming. We are wandering into the literal end of days as we speak.”

The group just laughs about it, but Willoughby looks deadly serious.

The trailer also shows the group’s musical number with Dorothy (Abi Monterey); Vic (Joivan Wade) becoming a teenager again; a quick look at Sendhil Ramamurthy’s character as Mr. 104; and more.

Later in the Doom Patrol Season 4 trailer, Madame Rouge (Michelle Gomez) talked about the “Immortus Project” and revealed it was the “pursuit of immortality.”

Who’s Immortus?

Immortus doesn’t appear in the new season’s trailer, but he has been known as the centuries-old character General Immortus.

He was first introduced with the Doom Patrol in 1955 as one of the group’s main and mysterious antagonists.

He’s a Brotherhood of Evil’s member in the Doom Patrol comics and a criminal who has lived through a life-extending potion for centuries.

But the HBO Max series seems to have a different take on his character.

Doom Patrol Season 4 Plotline and Other Major Details

HBO Max’s official plotline states that the new season will “open with the team unexpectedly travelling to the future to find an unwelcome surprise. Faced with their imminent demise, the Doom Patrol must decide once and for all which is more important: their own happiness or the fate of the world?”

The streaming network will divide the new season into two parts this time. The first part will be out on December 8, while the second will be released sometime in 2023.

Fans will also see new characters this time. Aside from Ramamurthy, Madeline Zima will join the new season as Casey Brinke, aka Space Case.
