Genya Shinazugawa is one of the most boisterous and remarkable Demon Slayers in the series. In the Swordsmith Village arc, he has showcased his unwavering resolve to become a Hashira, but fans are also wondering if Genya dies in Demon Slayer.

The Brutal Past of Genya Shinazugawa
Before we address if Genya perishes in the series, let’s look back at his backstory, which is nothing but heartbreaking.
In Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 6, titled Aren’t You Going to be a Hashira? Genya sensed something behind him and it was Sekido who was ready to stab him.
At that moment, Genya froze and his past flashed right in front of his eyes. He remembered how his mother worked tirelessly to feed the family.
His mother was petite while his father was massive with a toxic personality.
Genya recalled how society hated his father so much that he was stabbed and killed.
Moreover, Genya’s father never missed a chance to hit his children and abuse his wife.
Despite her petite frame, Genya’s mother tried her best to protect the children.
One fateful night, Genya was up while his siblings were sleeping.
He noted that their mother was late that day. Sanemi Shinazugawa, who was also up by now, told Genya that he would look for her.
In the meantime, Genya had his guard up as he watched over his siblings. Turns out, his siblings were awake and worried about their mother.
Later, a loud knock on the door startled the family. Genya’s siblings rushed to open the door and welcome their mother.
But Genya felt something is amiss and turned out, it was a demon.
Almost instantly, the demon slayed Genya’s siblings as he screamed for help.
The demon attempted to attack Genya but Sanemi’s timely intervention saved his life.
Genya ran out of the house to get help and find Sanemi. At the end of the street, he saw his mother’s bloodied body and Sanemi staring at it as it started disintegrating.
Genya was mortified as he wept while holding his mother’s corpse. He demanded that Sanemi answer why he murdered their mother.
Later, it was revealed that the demon that was tackled out of the house was Genya’s mother.
Now, let’s learn about Genya’s fate, particularly whether or not he dies at some point in the series.
Does Genya Die in Demon Slayer?
After Genya and Sanemi parted ways, Genya realized that he was wrong. He vowed that he will become stronger and one day emerge as a Hashira.
In the Infinity Castle arc, Genya is up against the Upper Rank One named Kokushibo.
During this battle, Genya gives his all and weakens Kokushibo. Moreover, Genya eats the demon’s hair and gains his strengths and abilities.
As Kokushibo attacks Genya, the latter is able to regenerate because of his newfound abilities.
As the fight progresses, one of Genya’s bullets badly wounded Kokushibo because it sprouted roots and trapped the demon.
Meanwhile, Sanemi and Gyomei utilized this chance to kill Kokushibo. Sadly, Genya couldn't survive the battle and succumbed to his grievous injuries.
However, in the final chapter of the Demon Slayer manga, it is revealed that everyone who battled against demons and died was reborn into a peaceful and happier life.
So, the final chapter states that Genya and Sanemi reincarnate as police officers fighting crime.
