The moment fans saw Kokushibo in Demon Slayer season 3, some believed Kokushibo was related to Tanjiro. But is he really?
It's uncanny that they look a bit similar, so does this mean that Tanjiro’s ancestors are also demons?

Are Tanjiro’s Father and Kokushibo the Same Person?
Tanjuro Kamado, Tanjiro's father, is not Kokushibo. Many fans tend to need clarification regarding Kokushibo, Tanjuro, and even Yoriichi, Kokushibo's twin because they all look similar and wear the same Hanafuda earrings.
While it would be a great plot twist if Tanjuro were a demon, that is not the case.
Tanjuro died because of his illness, while Kokushibo became the Upper-Rank One of Muzan’s 12 Kizuki.
So, Is Kokushibo Related to Tanjiro?
To answer it directly, Kokushibo is not related to Tanjiro. There is no explanation for why the two resemble each other, but in terms of the Hanafuda earrings, Tanjiro got those from his father.
Tanjuro Kamado got the earrings from his ancestors, who met Yoriichi.
He gave them the earrings for safekeeping, and the earrings were eventually passed down to every male member of the Kamado family.
Are Tanjiro’s Ancestors Demons or Demon Slayers?
The Kamado family are not demons or demon slayers. When Sumiyoshi and Suyako Kamado (Tanjiro's ancestors) met Yoriichi, they were mere humans.
They were not connected with demons or even the Demon Slayer Corps. But how come they know the Dance of the Fire God?
It was because Yoriichi showed Sumiyoshi and Suyako the Sun Dance. He performed it in front of them after Suyako requested it.
Yoriichi did not know that Sumiyoshi was so impressed by the dance that he instantly memorized it.
The Dance of the Fire God was then passed on to the members of the Kamado family.
Tanjuro also learned Transparent World and Selfless State, but he wasn't able to teach Tanjiro these skills due to his health.
The only human-turned-demon member of the family is Nezuko after Muzan massacred the entire Kamado family.
Muzan’s objective was to create more demons who could withstand the sun by giving them a part of his blood. He succeeded, though, as Nezuko is resistant to the sun.
But what the Demon King did not expect was for Nezuko to be on the side of the demon slayers and not his.
