Doctor Strange 2 Scrapped Opening Scene Features Jaw-Dropping Scene Between Wanda and Mordo

After months of anticipation, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has finally premiered in theaters. Helmed by Sam Raimi, the sequel features the Multiversal adventure of Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange as he goes face-to-face against Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch.

Although Wanda's immense power was subtly showcased throughout the Infinity Saga, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness shows a range of Wanda's powers we’ve never seen before as she fully descends into her comic book counterpart, the Scarlet Witch. The Scarlet Witch went on an extremely violent killing spree, murdering numerous sorcerers in Kamar-Taj, and annihilating every founding member of the Illuminati one by one.

However, it appears that an initial opening scene that supposedly features Wanda's transformation into a more sinister Scarlet Witch and an epic battle with Mordo has been scrapped from the film.

According to Heavy Spoilers on Youtube, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness initially opened up with a scene featuring Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff in an epic battle with Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor).

The sequence opens up with Mordo visiting Wanda after he vowed to "kill the Wizarding World" as seen in the post-credit scene of 2016's Doctor Strange. Paul, the host of the Heavy Spoilers Youtube channel explained:

"Now that the film is out though, I can say I know for definite that there was a scene with Mordo in it in which he went to visit Wanda at the start of the movie. If you cast your mind back to the end of Doctor Strange, then you'll remember that the post-credits scene had him going on a quest to kill the Wizarding World worse than Fantastic Beasts did. In Multiverse of Madness, Strange even mentions how Mordo has been trying to kill him when he meets the Illuminati version. But, this is something that we've never seen and it's definitely not something that he would really know about as Mordo never really said anything along those lines at their last meeting."

In the said sequence, Wanda showcased her eerie transformation as the cruel Scarlet Witch, turning Mordo into mom's spaghetti and beheading him:

"Now Mordo was going to be the main villain that showed up in the introduction to the movie and he'd be used to demonstrate Wanda's new ruthless attitude. He would go to attack her and she'd turn him into mom's spaghetti, beheading him within seconds of his arrival. It was going to be a big way to start the film and it instantly cemented Wanda as the villain."

"From here, we would then jump to the gap junction, which is where we would be introduced to America Chavez and Defender Strange," the host added.

This would have been a cool opening scene but let's admit it, with how Marvel Studios decided to scrap the sequence and opened up with Defender Strange and America Chavez scene in another dimension, fans are left blindsided whether Wanda is actually the villain throughout the film.

Although Doctor Strange met a variant of Mordo in Earth 838, the sequel didn't fully disclose what happened to the original MCU Mordo and the opening scene would clearly settle the traitor sorcerer's fate.

Since the opening scene featuring Mordo didn't make it to the sequel, this means that he can still return in the future MCU projects, mainly for Doctor Strange 3.
