Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness: Are the Illuminati Dead?

Doctor Strange and America Chavez arrived at one universe where Strange is considered as the Earth’s mightiest hero for defeating Thanos alone, they reached the Sanctum Sanctorum of the said place and they were greeted by Mordo who turns out to have their drinks spiked so they could be researched and be heard by the Illuminati – Captain Carter, Captain Marvel, Black Bolt, Mr. Fantastic, and Professor X.

However, while Doctor Strange is facing the council for what seems to be a vote on a judgment, Wanda taps into the consciousness of her variant in the said world where she brings forth destruction on the Illuminati facility upon knowing that America Chavez is being held there. As Wanda walks through the front door, the other heroes form their own line of defense, leaving Mordo and Professor X with Strange.

One by one, Wanda took them out. First one is Black Bolt whom Wanda closed off the mouth and turned into something that melts. Then, there is Mr. Fantastic who Wanda turned into pasta. Captain Carter gets killed by her own shield sent through her abdomen, and lastly, Wanda took off Captain Marvel’s suit and a statue fell onto her.

The last to die was Professor X. As Wanda nears America Chavez, the mutant tried to tap into Wanda’s mind where he found out that the original Wanda is being imprisoned by the Scarlet Witch. However, before Professor X manages to bring Wanda out, the Scarlet Witch kills him while in the mind and ultimately killing the body.

Yes, the Illuminati died in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, at least, their counterpart in Earth 838. But that does not mean they would not be back in the MCU. After all, anyone in the multiverse has their own counterpart in another. There heroes forming the Illuminati may have their Earth 616 variant and be back in the franchise.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now in theaters.
